In some situations, it is not always ideal/possible to run an Ethernet cable from your router to an access point. To resolve this issue, you can create a wireless up-link using your UniFi devices.

In order to do this, first go to your controller and then select the device you want to use as the downlink/wired device and then select Settings.

Once the settings have been selected, disable the 'Use Global AP Settings' option to then Enable Meshing. While this alone can automatically allow devices to wirelessly uplink, we recommend doing this manually instead.

Now you can set the Downlink and Uplink, Downlink allows other APs to connect to the AP and Uplink is allow connection to other APs - configure this for the appropriate APs.

After applying the setting for the uplink and downlink on the devices it will display getting ready to apply the changes. Now unplug the AP from the LAN so that is only powered with the PoE injector. After a few minutes, the unit should automatically up-link to the wired AP and you can place the device in the desired location from there - the device will show connected wireless on the controller when done successfully.

Additional notes:
- We usually recommend an up-link signal strength of at least 50% for the up-link. You can check this from the devices properties panel under the Up-link (Wireless) section. It may still be possible to have the up-link active, however, the network speed will be reduced.
- After disconnecting the AP from the LAN, if the device is showing isolated or is automatically connected to the wrong AP, you can manually configure the up-link priorities in the Wireless Up-links section and select the desired AP from there.

- If the uplink (wireless) AP still does not link as intended, you can try configuring both APs to have the same 5G channel as this is required for the units to wirelessly link
