Separating networks can always be a useful tool when a Guest network is in place or just for management purposes. You can only create VLANs when a USG is implemented into your network, however you can also utilise already-made VLANs within your UniFi network as well.
To create a VLAN you will need to navigate to to the settings page in the bottom left hand corner and go to Networks on the left hand side. After selecting Create new network, you will see the image below:
For a basic VLAN setup, you will need to fill in the following fields:
-Name: Type the name of the network e.g. Management VLAN
-VLAN: Enter the VLAN ID (any arbitrary number e.g. VLAN 10) for that network
-Gateway/Subnet: Enter the IP address of the Gateway for this network as well as the Subnet e.g. 192.168.10.1/24
-DHCP Range: The DHCP range will be auto-filled after clicking Update DHCP Range next to the Gateway/Subnet field
-Save changes
The remaining fields can be filled to your desired specifications and pertain to more advanced configuration, however the settings enabled by default are suitable for most VLANs.
