Firmware upgrades are regularly released by Ubiquiti for the USG's, switches and access points. The upgrades will include recent bug fixes and potentially new features for the devices.
We would most definitely recommend upgrading your devices on a regular basis when the firmware release becomes available. You can check if your devices are due an upgrade at any point on the controller within the devices page.
